An 11-seed has made it to the Final Four a whopping five times. It is the lowest seed to ever make the Final Four.

Four of the five No. 11 seeds have made it during the 21st century: George Mason (2006), VCU (2011), Loyola Chicago (2018) and UCLA (2021).

LSU also made the Final Four as a No. 11 seed in 1986.

George Mason, VCU and Loyola Chicago all earned legendary status as mid-major squads that went on improbably epic tournament runs.

VCU, in particular, was a huge shock, as the Rams advanced to the national semifinals after being bracketed in the First Four, during the first year that the tournament had expanded out to 68 teams.
