Who Is Most Likely to Win March Madness?

Millions of college basketball fans will fill out brackets over the next few days, hunting for every last bit of research that could point them toward a correct national championship prediction.

Naturally, bracketology is all guesswork, and 10 different people might believe in 10 different teams. But when it comes to March Madness college basketball odds, there is actually a pretty clear answer on who the favorite is to win this year’s national championship.

Who Is Predicted to Win March Madness 2024?

UConn is currently predicted to win March Madness, at least according to BetMGM’s college basketball national championship odds. The Huskies are currently the betting favorite to win it all at -190. 

Purdue spent most of the season as the No. 1 team, and the Boilermakers are still the No. 3 most likely team to win it according to BetMGM’s odds. Both teams will be surefire No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament.

But UConn has ripped off win after win after win in the rugged Big East Conference, at one point winning 14 straight games from Dec. 23 to Feb. 17.

The Huskies also have nonconference wins against North Carolina, Texas, and Indiana from the first month of the season. 

It’s been nearly 20 years since any program won back-to-back national championships. (Florida did under Billy Donovan in 2006 and 2007.) But now that UConn tops the Final Four betting odds and is -190 to win it all, it seems quite likely that the Huskies could make some history.

UConn is also the defending national champion and has 13 Quad 1 wins.
