Drafted No. 33 in 2019 by the Arizona Cardinals, cornerback Byron Murphy has been trying to carve out more consistency as he enters his fifth in the league.
Byron Murphy Salary
The newly signed Minnesota Vikings cornerback is entering the first year of a two-year contract. Out of Washington, Murphy was drafted by the Cardinals but just signed with the Vikings in free agency. Murphy inked a two-year $17,500,000 contract with the Vikings, including a $7,000,000 signing bonus, $12,600,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $8,750,000.
Byron Murphy Cap Hit
The 25-year-old will carry a $4,914,699 cap hit in 2023.
Byron Murphy Potential Extension
After spending the first four years of his career with the Arizona Cardinals, Murphy has found a new home entering 2023. He signed a two-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings and will try to stay healthy and build up more experience in the NFC North.
Staying on the field was a problem for Murphy in 2022, when he suited up for just nine games. The Vikings will be hoping he can return to his 2021 form, where he played in 16 games, recording four interceptions and one forced fumble.
How Murphy fares in his time with the Vikings will ultimately determine if he can sign a longer-term deal moving forward or if he’ll be tied to the short-term label he’s currently living on.
