  • The Patriots are a 7-point home underdog against the Jets.
  • The Patriots have lost 10 straight games against teams that held a losing record.
  • My Patriots vs. Jets prediction is to use the Jets in a six-point teaser.

The Jets will hope to end a four-game losing streak as they travel to Foxborough for a Week 8 meeting with the Patriots.ย

New York dropped to 2-5 following a blowout defeat on Sunday night in Pittsburgh. After taking a 15-6 lead, New York allowed 31 unanswered points to fall 37-15 to the Steelers.ย

New England suffered a similar result in Week 7. As heavy dogs in London, the Patriots dropped a sixth straight game in a 32-16 defeat against the Jaguars.ย

Patriots vs. Jets Prediction

Based on New Englandโ€™s defensive struggles and a historically profitable betting angle, my Patriots vs. Jets prediction is the Jets (-1) as a teaser leg.ย

This has to be the buy spot on the Jets, whose lone convincing performance came in Week 3 against the Patriots. At home, the Jets won and covered in a 24-3 victory over New England.ย

Itโ€™s also a horrible scheduling spot for the Patriots, who return back from London with no bye week to reduce the travel effects.ย

While it’s concerning New York has dropped four straight, Iโ€™m attributing it to the strength of opposing defenses.ย

New Yorkโ€™s last four games have come against sides first, second, fifth and 11th in defensive EPA per play.ย

Now Aaron Rodgers gets a Patriots defense thatโ€™s 28th in defensive EPA per play. Jerod Mayoโ€™s defense has also surrendered at least 30 points in three of its last four contests.ย

There isn’t much to write home about New Englandโ€™s offense, either. The Patriots sit 32nd in PFFโ€™s offensive grades and 27th in EPA per play.ย

This season, New York is 2-0 SU against teams 27th or worse in both of those metrics, with both wins coming by at least a touchdown.ย

History also suggests this is a good spot for the Jets.ย

Road divisional favorites between -8 and -6 are 23-7-1 SU, assuming that the favorite won the previous head-to-head by 20 or more points, including 20-5 in game number four onward.ย

Those teams are 27-4 against a six-point teaser in the former sample and 22-3 in the latter.ย

As a result, take the Jets down through three key numbers and back them to beat the Patriots for a second straight meeting.ย
