Bill Belichick has more Super Bowl appearances (9) than head coach in NFL history. With a 6-3 record in his nine appearances, he also has the most Super Bowl wins among head coaches.

Previously, the record was held for many years by Don Shula, who went to six early Super Bowls with the Baltimore Colts and Miami Dolphins.ย

Shula is tied with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid after the Chiefs reached Super Bowl 59. That game marks Reid’s sixth appearance in the championship game, including his fourth with Kansas City.

Shulaโ€™s 1972 Dolphins are famously the only NFL team to ever complete an undefeated season โ€“ a record that could have been challenged by Belichickโ€™s 2007 Patriots if they hadnโ€™t lost to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII.

Former Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry is third on the all-time list with five total appearances.
