Mike Vrabel’s first Patriots staff features a familiar face at offensive coordinator: Josh McDaniels.
McDaniels returns to New England after sitting out the 2024 season. His last job came as the Raiders’ head coach, but Las Vegas fired him midway through the 2023 season.
Most of McDaniels’ NFL experience came as the Pats’ offensive coordinator.
He spent 10 seasons with New England (2012-21) and recorded a separate stint in Foxborough (2006-08).
McDaniels also spent a season-and-a-half as the Broncos’ head coach. In 2009-10, he finished with an 11-17 record. All told, McDaniels’ record as a head coach is 20-33.
The 49-year-old also spent one season as the St. Louis Rams’ offensive coordinator (2011). As a coordinator, he led a top-10 offense by points in all but two seasons.
This season, he’s charged with turning around a Patriots offense that ranked 30th in offensive DVOA last season, per ftnfantasy.com.
