  • The Masters is April 10-13 from Augusta National.
  • Why Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele are good outright picks.
  • Explaining why Will Zalatoris and Michael Kim have good value.

The best week of the year in golf betting and golf in general is here.

The Masters will be April 10-13 at Augusta National in Augusta, Georgia.

Defending champion Scottie Scheffler enters with the best odds to win at +450, but heโ€™s closely followed by Rory McIlroy at +650. McIlroy needs a Masters victory to complete the career Grand Slam, and heโ€™s seeking his first major since 2014.

Since it is a major, members from LIV golf are in the field, including Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm and Phil Mickelson.

Most everyone is familiar with Augusta National, especially how exciting the back-9 can get, especially on Sunday, with plenty of birdie and eagle opportunities, but also the chance to make a big number.

I will be focusing on a number of metrics this week, but perhaps most importantly, past success at Augusta National. Here are the metrics I will be focusing on: Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, Strokes Gained: Approach, Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green, par-5 scoring, driving distance, proximity 200+ yards and three-putt avoidance.ย

And since itโ€™s the Masters, my card will be bigger than a typical week.

*Odds as of April 7

Masters Prediction

Scottie Scheffler is expected to win the Masters with an 18.18% implied probability, according to betting markets. Rory McIlroy is next at 13.33%.

Implied probability is the overall chance of a potential outcome in relation to the odds.

Masters Best Bets

Collin Morikawa Outright Winner (+1400)

As impressive as Scheffler and McIlroy are entering the Masters, thereโ€™s a case to be made that Morikawa has been even better. Despite not winning since the 2023 ZOZO Championship, he ranks, No. 1 in Strokes Gained: Approach worldwide in 2025, No. 1 in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green worldwide in 2025, No. 1 in Strokes Gained: Overall worldwide in 2025.

In addition, heโ€™s had quite a bit of success at Augusta. He is one of two players to finish in the Masters top 10 each of the last three years (Scheffler), including playing in the final group last year.

Not only is Morikawa due to win soon, but heโ€™s due to win a major, specifically the Masters, soon.ย

Xander Schauffele Outright Winner (+2200)

This number was a bit perplexing to me.ย

Yes, Schauffele is working his way back from an intercostal strain with a small cartilage tear, and struggled in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship, but he is coming off a T-12 in his last event, the Valspar Championship. Even more encouraging was that he gained 11.276 strokes on approach, the most heโ€™s ever had in a PGA Tour event.

Prior to the injury, he was being discussed with the likes of Scheffler and McIlroy.

Schauffele publicly said he wasnโ€™t able to play much golf ahead of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, so clearly he was working the rust off in those three events. Heโ€™s had a few weeks to fine-tune his game and be ready to go this week at Augusta.

After breaking through the major victory door a year ago, having a great record at the Masters (more on that below), he seems due to win here at some point.

Russell Henley Outright Winner (+4500)

Henley was one of the best players in the game without a โ€œheadlineโ€ win until he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational last month. Perhaps some extra confidence from that win could take him over the line to get him his first major victory.ย

History also shows that winning earlier in the year goes a long way toward winning at Augusta. Seven of the last 10 winners won a PGA Tour event earlier in that season.

Henley also has three top-15 finishes at Augusta to fall back on, including a T-4 in 2023.

Xander Schauffele Top-10 Pick (+180)

The above analysis on Schauffele applies here, and then thereโ€™s also how much heโ€™s dominated Augusta National.

Schauffele has four top-10 finishes in seven appearances, including a solo eighth-place finish a year ago.

Coming off the injury, thereโ€™s great value here as Schauffele should be in the same category as Scheffler and McIlroy.

Robert MacIntyre Top-20 Pick (+138)

MacIntyre checks a lot of the boxes needed to play well at Augusta, including being a lefty.ย

This will be his third start at the Masters, and he finished T-23 last year after finishing T-12 in 2021. He also comes into the event playing well, logging back-to-back top-11 finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship.

Heโ€™s shown the ability to excel at hard courses, and this week is no different.ย

Will Zalatoris Top-20 Pick (+130)

Simply put, Zalatoris has a great track record at Augusta.

In three appearances, heโ€™s finished inside the top 10 all three times, including solo second in 2021 and T-9 last year.ย

Zalatoris isnโ€™t having a terrific season โ€“ his best finish is a T-12 โ€“ but he does have three top 25s. The issue for him has been consistency for all four rounds.ย

Coming back to a course he loves could lead to more consistency and another top finish.

Michael Kim Top-40 Pick (+100)

Kim cracked the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings following the Texas Childrenโ€™s Houston Open to qualify for his second Masters.ย

Heโ€™s playing some terrific golf of late, including checking off a ton of the key metrics needed to play well here.ย

While he doesnโ€™t have the same experience as other players, Kim should be able to do a little better than just making the cut.ย
