The PGA Tour will move islands in Hawaii for the second event of the year.
Following The Sentry in Kapalua, the Sony Open in Hawaii will be played at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.
The two courses couldn’t be any more different as the Plantation Course is wide open with large fairways and greens, whereas Waialae is narrow with small fairways and greens.
Hideki Matsuyama set a PGA Tour scoring record, finishing the week at 35-under. That likely won’t be the case this week, as the winning score has been 17 and 18-under the last two years.
It is not a PGA Tour signature event, but several big names will be in the field, including Matsuyama, who has the best odds to win entering the event.

Matt Kuchar
Kuchar has recorded eight top-13 finishes over his last 11 Sony Open starts, and that includes a win in 2019. More recently, he’s finished T-7 in two of his last three appearances.

Chris Kirk
In the last four years, Kirk has had a solo third finish and a T-2 at this event, which has him third in total strokes gained in the last five years. He also won last year’s Sentry tournament, so he has some good Hawaii vibes.
