Virtually all of the best golfers in the world will be at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma this week.

With that being said, the biggest story on the course is Tiger Woods, who will be playing in his second tournament since his serious car crash in February of 2021. Woods has +6600 odds to win the PGA Championship, which are tied for 21st-best in the field.

Woods had a solid two days at the Masters before going 78-78 over the weekend to finish in 47th place.

Even with the subpar finish, Woods is still popular in golf betting this week.

“Tiger Woods (+6600) is our biggest liability to win the PGA Championship. If Tiger were to win, it would be the biggest losing result in BetMGM history. Tiger missing the cut would be a good outcome for the sportsbook,” Jason Scott, BetMGM’s VP of Trading, said.

As of Wednesday, he has the third-highest ticket percentage (6%) and third-highest handle percentage (5.6%).

Tiger Woods Injury Update For PGA Championship

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Woods gave an update on the health of his leg, which will likely never be 100% again following a serious car crash close to 18 months ago.

“There’s going to be limitations,” he said. “There’s a lot of hardware in there and there are limitations to what I am going to be able to do. But, I am going to get stronger. I don’t know how much that is or how much range of motion I’ll ever get back, but I sure am better than I was 12 months ago.”

Woods said the Monday after the Masters was a tough day for him physically, but he was back to work the following day as it was leg day.

Woods played a practice round at Southern Hills a few weeks ago and then returned to the property to begin his preparations on Sunday. He has played a few 9-hole rounds this week.

Woods won the event the last time it was played at Southern Hills in 2007.
