When Does the 2024 College Football Season Start?

The 2024 college football season starts with Week 0 games on Saturday, Aug. 24. The biggest game on the docket is Florida State vs. Georgia Tech, which will be played in Dublin, Ireland.

Five days later, Week 1 will begin on Thursday, Aug. 29, kicking off a loaded Week 1 college football schedule with several notable games, including LSU-USC, Notre Dame-Texas A&M, and Colorado-North Dakota State.

The season will end with the 2024 College Football Playoff. The first-ever FBS 12-team playoff will begin on Friday, Dec. 20 and continue on Saturday.ย 

The second round will take place on New Yearโ€™s Eve and New Yearโ€™s Day. The national championship will be played on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025.
