It takes a lot of work to lead Major League Baseball in hits. The sportโ€™s top batters have recorded 200-plus hits in back-to-back seasons.

  • 2024: Bobby Witt Jr. (211)
  • 2023: Ronald Acuรฑa Jr. (217)

As a result, itโ€™s worth targeting MVP-caliber players who can play nearly every day in this MLB betting market for the 2025 season.

Hits Leader Betting Favorite: Bobby Witt Jr.

Based on the latest MLB odds, Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. is the betting favorite (+400) to lead the majors in hits during the 2025 season. His odds translate to an implied probability of 20%.

Witt was +1800 in this market last preseason, but there is a solid argument that his odds to be MLBโ€™s hits leader are more valuable than his American League MVP price of +325.

Most projection systems expect Witt to lead the majors in hits again. OOPSY, available at FanGraphs, has him finishing with 190 hits this year.

Witt, who is 24 and will play every day, is the betting favorite for a reason.

MLB Hits Leader Predictions for 2025

While Iโ€™m more interested in backing the favorite for MLBโ€™s hits leader than other stat markets, it only takes one injury to open up this race. There is value to be had down the board, though Iโ€™m targeting this profile:

  • MVP candidate
  • Capable of playing every day
  • Top spots in the lineup

With that profile in mind, Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodrรญguez (+2000) and Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley (+8000) are my favorite predictions for MLBโ€™s hits leader market in 2025.

Rodrรญguez was my favorite MVP bet when the market opened at his 40/1 value, but this could be the best way to bet on a bounce-back season.

Rodrรญguez got off to a slow start and struggled with injuries during the summer, but demonstrated his potential in September when he ranked second behind Shohei Ohtani in hits.

OOPSY projects 177 hits for Rodrรญguez, putting him fourth in the majors and 13 hits behind Witt. Although Rodrรญguez doesnโ€™t play in a great ballpark for offense, he remains a valuable option in this market at 20/1.

Riley is more of a long shot, particularly after recording 109 hits in 110 games last year. However, he played 159-plus games in three straight seasons between 2021-23, ranking fourth in MLB with 526 hits over that span.

At 27 years old, Riley is just now entering his prime and will bat in the No. 2 hole for an explosive lineup. OOPSY projects Riley to finish sixth in the majors with 171 hits, suggesting tremendous value on his current price tag.
