As of May 24, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ odds to win the World Series in 2023 are +500, tied with the Atlanta Braves for first place and just ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays (+650) and Houston Astros (+700).

Prior to Opening Day, the online sportsbook had the Dodgers leading World Series odds at +500, with the Astros (+700) just behind them. Their odds dropped off as they struggled at the very start of the season, but as they pushed back to lead the NL East, the Dodgers’ odds changed accordingly to see them back leading MLB as favorites to win.

Los Angeles Dodgers World Series History

The Dodgers have won seven World Series titles in their franchise’s history — 1955, 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, 1988, and 2020.

Then based in Brooklyn, the Dodgers won their first World Series title in 1955, beating the New York Yankees in seven games. It was the first of four World Series titles won by manager Walter Alston, and the team’s roster was stacked with future Hall of Famers, including Jackie Robinson, Sandy Koufax, Pee Wee Reese, and Roy Campanella.

The Dodgers moved to Los Angeles in 1958 and won their second World Series title the following season (1959), beating the Chicago White Sox in six games. The 1959 World Series was the first in MLB history to be played on the West Coast, and the second to be won win Alston as manager.

The 1963 and 1981 World Series saw the Dodgers beat the Yankees again, in four and six games, respectively. In 1965, Los Angeles bettered the Minnesota Twins in seven games, marking the fourth and final World Series won by Alston. In 1988, the Dodgers beat the Oakland Athletics in five games.

The most recent World Series title won by the Dodgers was in 2020, when they beat the Tampa Bay Rays in six games. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire series was played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, with the ballpark’s seating capacity limited to just 11,500 fans (25%).
