  • Baltimore is a -150 moneyline favorite for Tuesday’s Game 1.

In a rematch from the 2014 ALCS, the Baltimore Orioles will be looking for revenge when they host the Kansas City Royals for a best-of-three American League Wild Card series.

The Orioles (91-71) finished as the No. 4 seed, securing their second straight postseason berth after not winning a playoff game last year. Their last postseason victory came in the 2014 ALDS.

The Royals (85-76) became the second team to notch a playoff berth the year after losing 100-plus games, returning to the postseason for the first time since winning the 2015 World Series.

Here is a look at the latest MLB betting lines for the Orioles vs. Royals matchup and a best bet for Tuesday’s Game 1:

Orioles vs. Royals Prediction, Game 1 Best Bet

Best bet: Orioles moneyline (-150)

An underrated aspect of the Royals traveling to Oriole Park in Camden Yards is that the ballpark isn’t favorable for their right-handed heavy lineup. Before the 2022 season, the Orioles raised the wall to 13 feet and pushed it back as much as 26 feet.

The Royals have averaged 2.88 runs per game in nine games in Baltimore over the last three seasons, scoring 11 runs in a series loss to the Orioles in early April.

That’s not ideal for a Kansas City lineup that struggled down the stretch. The Royals lost first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino to injury on Aug. 29. They are 30th in the league with a wRC+ of 58 in the 27 games since then.

Pasquantino could be returning this week, but I’m skeptical of his effectiveness if he’s in the lineup.

This game is why the Orioles traded for pitcher Corbin Burnes before the season. The Baltimore ace needs to set the tone in Game 1, giving this team its first playoff victory in a decade.

At -150 or better, I’m willing to back the Orioles as my MLB odds prediction for Game 1.
