The 2024 NBA free agency period featured huge names. The transaction sheet reshaped professional basketball as we know it.

This yearโ€™s list of free agents for 2025 is more understated, featuring many older players who may be looking for one last contract with a contending team.

There are also several players who could opt out of player options and become free agents, like LeBron James, James Harden, and Julius Randle.ย

For now, those players remain under contract and are not listed as expected 2025 free agents.ย

NBA Free Agency 2025 Start Date

The 2025 NBA free agency period will begin at 6 p.m. ET on June 30. At that time, four days after the draft, teams can freely negotiate with unrestricted players.ย

Players can sign new contracts starting at 12:01 p.m. ET on July 6.ย
