Drafted No. 43 in 2016 by the Tennessee Titans, defensive tackle Austin Johnson is playing for his third NFL franchise, the Los Angeles Chargers.

Austin Johnson Salary

Johnson signed a two-year, $14,000,000 contract with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022. It includes a $5,500,000 signing bonus, $10,625,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $7,000,000.

Austin Johnson Cap Hit

The 25-year-old carries a $9,500,000 cap hit in 2023. His dead cap hit would be approximately $6.1 million.

Austin Johnson Potential Extension

Johnson suited up for just eight games due to injury. He played a career-high 56.8% of snaps with the Giants in 2021 and parlayed that into a two-year deal with the Chargers.

Next season will be important for Johnson if he hopes to sign a deal beyond 2024. It will depend on if he can stay on the field and be productive, but the most realistic outcome might be a one-year deal worth $7 million.
