New Bears head coach Ben Johnson tabbed 29-year-old Declan Doyle to work as his first offensive coordinator.
Doyle arrives in Chicago after two seasons with the Denver Broncos. There, he worked under Sean Payton as the tight ends coach.
Prior to the Broncos, Doyle spent four seasons in New Orleans as an offensive assistant. During that time, he worked with Dennis Allen, now the Bears’ defensive coordinator.
That completes the NFL experience for Doyle, who also spent time working in the NCAA. His first three seasons of coaching experience came as an offensive student assistant with Iowa.
Doyle owns the title as the youngest coordinator in the NFL. This season, he’ll lead a Bears offense that finished 27th in offensive DVOA last season, per ftnfantasy.com.
