The NFL goes international in the first week of the season with the Eagles and Packers playing in Sao Paulo, Brazil. 

Both teams enter the 2024 campaign off playoff appearances. Green Bay reached the NFC divisional round after defeating the Cowboys before falling to San Francisco. 

Meanwhile, the Eagles started the 2023 season strong at 10-1. However, they lost six of their final seven to exit in the wild card round.

Eagles vs. Packers Prediction

My prediction for Eagles vs. Packers is Saquon Barkley Over 65.5 Rushing Yards (-120). 

Last year, Green Bay struggled immensely to defend the run. 

Despite minimal injuries to their defensive line and edge rushers, the Packers still ranked 16th in rush success rate and 22nd in rushing EPA per play allowed, per rbsdm.com. 

Even more concerning: Their record against top rushing teams. 

Green Bay played six games against teams 10th or better in the corresponding offensive category. 

They surrendered 122.2 rushing yards per game, including 154 against teams sixth or better. 

Even without Jason Kelce, Philadelphia returns two tackles who ranked 12th or better in PFF’s run-blocking grades. As a team, Philly ranked fourth in rush EPA per play. 

Irrespective of opponent, Barkley cleared this number in eight of 14 games last year with New York, who ranked 27 spots worse than Philly in PFF’s run-blocking grades. 

Included in that sample is an 86-yard performance against Green Bay. Back Barkley to clear this number again with a better offensive line.
