After reaching the postseason for the second straight season, Green Bay is -125 to reach the playoffs for a third straight year.
Conversely, Green Bay is -105 to miss the playoffs in 2025.
Prediction: Will the Green Bay Packers Make the Playoffs?
Based on Green Bay’s expected improvement in the division and the success of its offense in 2024, I predict the Packers Make the Playoffs (-125).
While I remain bullish on the Packers as a futures candidate, I prefer to invest in them via the NFC North division title.
If the Packers fail to win the division, I see the path to them missing the playoffs entirely.
Offensively, I carry minimal concerns about Green Bay. After ranking sixth in offensive DVOA in 2023, Green Bay improved to fourth in 2024.
The key question with the Packers is whether Jeff Hafley’s defense retains its standing from 2024.
In 2023, Green Bay ranked 27th in defensive DVOA. Last year, Hafley’s unit improved to seventh, per ftnfantasy.com.
This season, challenges await Green Bay in terms of keeping that standing. Last season, the Packers achieved that defensive record against the 21st-hardest set of offenses.
Based on 2024 offensive DVOA ratings, the Packers face the league’s 13th-hardest set of offenses.
The silver lining for the Packers is that a disproportionate number of the games against strong offenses come at home.
Of the seven games against teams that finished the 2024 season 14th or better in offensive DVOA, five will be played at Lambeau Field.
Plus, Green Bay remains a strong positive regression candidate in 2025. However, so much of its bad luck in 2024 came within the division.
Green Bay suffered five of six losses within the division. Those five losses came by two, 10, three, two and two points.
As a result, I prefer taking Green Bay at +275 to win the division.
That said, if asked to make a bet within this market, I’ll side with the yes.
