John Morton replaces Johnson for his second stint in Detroit. In 2022, Morton served as a senior offensive assistant with the Lions.
In between, Morton worked as the passing game coordinator for the Denver Broncos. Last season, he led the Broncos to 15th in pass offense DVOA, per ftnfantasy.com.
Morton also worked for a bevy of other franchises. The 56-year-old spent six total seasons with the Raiders (2002-04 and 2019-21).
He also spent four seasons as the wide receivers coach with the 49ers. Morton acquired further experience in two different stints with the Saints .
In 2006, he spent a season as an offensive assistant with New Orleans. After leaving San Francisco, he worked two years as a wide receivers coach with the Saints.
In 2025, Morton leads a Lions offense that ranked third in offensive DVOA last season. That marks two straight seasons in the top five for Detroit.
