Week 8’s Thursday Night Football matchup sees the Minnesota Vikings travel to face the Los Angeles Rams.
Minnesota sustained its first defeat of the season in Week 7. Off a bye week, the Vikings fell 31-29 at home to the Lions to fall out of the NFC North division lead.
Los Angeles captured a 20-15 home win as favorites against the Raiders off their bye week. Still, the Rams sit at 2-4 on the season.

Based on historically profitable betting angles and LA’s turning injury luck, my Rams vs. Vikings prediction is the Rams spread (+3, -110).
I wish I could make some compelling statistical argument as to why the Rams are a bad matchup for the Vikings. However, this is strictly a lean based on historical trends.
The good news for the Rams is that the offense returns Cooper Kupp from injury on Thursday. That undoubtedly boosts Los Angeles’ prospects against the Vikings.
Plus, there’s a clear argument for regression for Minnesota’s offense.
Minnesota is one of nine teams with more than 1.5 turnovers per game. However, it is one of only three teams with a winning record in spite of that trend.
Additionally, history tells us teams don’t fare well immediately after playing the Lions.
Dating back to last season, teams are 4-8 SU in games immediately following a meeting with Detroit. Of those four successes, two came against the Carolina Panthers.
History also tells us short home dogs fare well in primetime against previous home teams.
Home dogs at +3.5 or lower in primetime games are 57% ATS, assuming the opponent played at home the previous week and the contest is played outside the division.
When those games are played on Thursday or Sunday: 30-13-2 ATS, including 9-5 on Thursday night.
Accordingly, it’s the Rams or nothing for me on Thursday Night Football. For a safer bet, tease the Rams up to +9 and pair it with my Steelers vs. Giants prediction.
