On the one hand, Stefon Diggs has posted a 1,000-yard receiving season for six consecutive years, dating back to his 2018 and 2019 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. He’s a clear, consistent playmaker in the league and has spiked the NFL odds on every team he’s ever played for.

On the other hand, Diggs is a demanding presence in the locker room who’s now been traded twice, and his PFF rating for the 2023 season – 21st, behind Tank Dell, Amari Cooper, Rashee Rice, and others – was lower than many casual fans might realize.

Still, the Texans are in a strong performance window right now, thanks to the low cost of the C.J. Stroud rookie contract. They have the cap room to add a clear No. 1 receiver and make a real run at the AFC championship.

Stefon Diggs Contract

Stefon Diggs’ contract was restructured as part of his trade to Houston. Both Diggs and the Texans agreed to void the final three years of his four-year extension.

Because of the void years, Diggs is effectively playing the 2024 season on a one-year deal and will be eligible for free agency in 2025.

Originally, Diggs was scheduled to play the first year of a four-year extension worth $96 million. The extension was signed in April 2022 but governed the 2024-27 seasons.

Stefon Diggs Salary

Stefon Diggs will draw a restructured salary of $22.52 million in 2024. The restructure includes approximately $3.5 million of 2025 salary that would originally have become guaranteed on the first day of the 2025 season.

Following the restructure, Diggs is now the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL for 2024.

Stefon Diggs Trade Details

On April 3, Stefon Diggs was traded from Buffalo to Houston in exchange for a sixth-round pick from the 2024 NFL Draft and second & fifth-round picks from the 2025 draft.
