1. Mitch Marner – Maple Leafs

After another first-round exit, the Maple Leafs are expected to make big moves this offseason. Because of this, superstar forward Mitch Marner is the top trade candidate heading into the summer. He had another quiet postseason and is entering the final season of his deal. With the Maple Leafs needing to make changes, he is expected to be shopped. Teams to watch include the Predators, Islanders, Blackhawks, and Utah.

2. Linus Ullmark – Bruins

Jeremy Swayman will be the Bruins’ No. 1 goalie from here. Because of this, Linus Ullmark will almost certainly be traded this offseason. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner also blocked a trade at the deadline, so the Bruins have already looked to move him. Clubs that could look to add the star goalie include the Devils, Senators, Red Wings, and Oilers.

3. Jacob Markstrom – Flames

Jacob Markstrom is another star who was almost moved at this year’s trade deadline. Due to this and the Flames having Dustin Wolf waiting in the wings, Markstrom will likely be dealt this summer. The Devils have a known interest in him, but the Maple Leafs are another club to pay attention to.

4. Jakob Chychrun – Senators

Jakob Chychrun is a big trade candidate heading into the summer. The star defenseman was shopped at this year’s deadline and will enter the final season of his deal in 2024-25. The Senators also have several impactful left-shot defensemen, so Chychrun could be made expendable for the right price. The Bruins, Kings, Capitals, and Red Wings have been connected to him in the past.

5. Juuse Saros – Predators

Juuse Saros is another big-name goalie in the rumor mill right now. The star will be an unrestricted free agent after next season, and the Predators have top prospect Yaroslav Askarov ready for the NHL. Thus, the Predators could flip Saros to help land a star forward to their first line. The Maple Leafs, Hurricanes, and Devils are expected to be top suitors for the star.

6. Nikolaj Ehlers – Jets

Nikolaj Ehlers is generating a lot of attention in trade chatter. After an early exit in the playoffs, the Jets are set to make some moves, and Ehlers is their top trade candidate. The skilled winger will be a UFA after next season, so now may be the perfect time for the Jets to move him for some assets. The Islanders and Sabres have been buzzing as potential landing spots.

7. Trevor Zegras – Ducks

The Ducks listened to offers for star forward Trevor Zegras this season and are expected to again this offseason. The Ducks have several young forwards with great upside in their system, so Zegras could be made expendable if it means adding a star defenseman. The Canadiens and Flyers are two clubs that have been linked to him. Utah should also be watched, as they are expected to be aggressive this summer.

8. Pavel Buchnevich – Blues

Pavel Buchnevich picked up a lot of steam in the rumor mill leading up to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. The Blues opted to keep him for the rest of this campaign, but things could change on that front this offseason. The Blues are in the middle of a major retool and could use Buchnevich’s high value to land multiple picks and/or prospects. The Canucks and Hurricanes have a known interest in him.

9. Filip Gustavsson – Wild

Filip Gustavsson’s future with the Wild is not looking too good. Minnesota has top prospect Jesper Wallstedt ready to make the jump to the NHL, and they also re-signed Marc-Andre Fleury. As a result, Gustavsson has been made available, and a trade seems inevitable.

10. Joel Farabee – Flyers

The Flyers are likely to listen to offers for Joel Farabee this offseason. The young forward could use a change of scenery, and there will surely be interest in him. He has shown in the past that he can be an impactful top-six winger when playing at his best. Teams looking for more scoring and snarl will call about the 2018 first-round pick.

Who’s the Top NHL Trade Candidate for the 2024 Offseason?

Mitch Marner is the top trade candidate heading into the 2024 NHL Offseason. Players of his skill level are not made available often, but he is expected to be shopped with the Maple Leafs desperately needing a change.

The 2015 first-round pick is coming off a magnificent regular season, posting 26 goals and 85 points in 69 games. However, he cooled off dramatically during the playoffs, recording just one goal and three points in seven games.
