  • Adam Hadwin, Sungjae Im, Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns have the best course history.

The PGA Tour will hold its first tournament in the continental United States with The American Express from PGA West in La Quinta, California, January 16-19.

It is a unique week as PGA West has three courses โ€” Pete Dye SC, Nicklaus TC, La Quinta CC. Players will play all three courses for the first three rounds, and then the final round will exclusively be at the Pete Dye Stadium Course.ย

The cut comes after the third round and rounds are slower than usual as amateurs are paired with the players for the first three rounds.

With that being said, a number of top players are in the field, including Sam Burns, Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas.

Who Has the Best Course History at PGA West and The American Express?

Adam Hadwin, Sungjae Im, Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns have the best course history at PGA West and The American Express.

Adam Hadwin

Hadwin has done everything but win at this event, it seems. The Canadian always seems to be in contention at PGA West, with five top-six finishes in his last nine appearances.

Sungjae Im

In the last five years, Im has the most Strokes Gained at this event – five more than the second-most player. Heโ€™s finished inside the top 25 all five years, including a T-10 in 2020. Overall, heโ€™s finished inside the top 12 in four of his six appearances.

Patrick Cantlay

Besides a T-52 a year ago, Cantlay has had tremendous success at PGA West. He has three top 10s in five appearances, including a solo second in 2021.

Sam Burns

Besides a missed cut in 2021, Burns has finished inside the top 18 every time heโ€™s played in this event. In fact, heโ€™s finished T-6 twice (2024 and 2020).
