Since 2000, five winners posted scores north of even par at the respective venue. A further two winners finished at even par across 72 holes.ย
Of those seven players, two are tied for the highest score to win the U.S. Open.ย
In 2006, Geoff Ogilvy won the U.S. Open at Winged Foot with a 72-hole score of 285 (+5) at Winged Foot.ย
The following year, Angel Cabrera claimed the U.S. Open at Oakmont with the same winning score: 285 (+5).ย

Other finishers north of even par this century include Webb Simpson at Olympic Club (+1), Justin Rose at Merion (+1) and Brooks Koepka (+1) at Shinnecock Hills.ย
Expand the sample to include ALL U.S. Opens, however, and the record changes hands for the highest winning score.ย
In 1919, Walter Hagen won the U.S. Open with a winning score of +17 at Brae Burn Country Club.ย
That outpaced Francis Ouimet, who won the 1913 U.S. Open at the Country Club with a score of +12.ย
From 1913 to 1935, the winning score of the U.S. Open finished at +10 or higher six times. Two of those occasions came at Oakmont Country Club, site of the 2025 U.S. Open.ย
