  • The Wells Fargo Championship is May 4-7 from Quail Hollow.
  • This is a major championship venue that rewards all-around play.
  • Prop bets are a good alternative to outright winner bets.

Prop bets are a nice alternative to outright winners in golf betting each week. For example, instead of selecting a player to win, picking him to finish in the top 10 might have better value.ย

Given the strength of the field this week, these are a solid alternative to outright bets.

Below are my best prop bets for the Wells Fargo Championship this week.

Wells Fargo Championship 2023: Best Prop Betsย

Viktor Hovland Top-5 Finish +400

Donโ€™t look now, but Hovland hasnโ€™t missed a cut in a non-major in the United States in over 15 months. Heโ€™s playing some solid golf that perhaps hasnโ€™t received the recognition it deserves. He recently finished T-3 at the Players Championship and T-7 at the Masters.

While not a major, this tournament has a big-time feel, even before being a designated event, and Hovland seems to raise his game this week. A T-3 in 2021 at the event doesnโ€™t hurt his cause, either.

Justin Thomas Top-20 Finish +100

This is my favorite play of the week. In the 2023 calendar year, Thomas only has two top-10 finishes, finished T-60 at the Players, and missed the cut at the Masters. It hasnโ€™t lived up to his expectations, but that doesnโ€™t mean he should be plus-money to finish inside the top 20.

Thomas won his first major at Quail Hollow (2017 PGA Championship) and has added a T-21 (2018) and T-26 (2021) at the Wells Fargo Championship since.

Emiliano Grillo Top-20 Finish +300

Grillo has two straight top-10 finishes at the RBC Heritage and the Mexico Open at Vidanta, so he comes in with plenty of confidence. Course history is also on his side, as he finished T-9 in the 2018 edition of the event.

The 30-year-old is a good option as a longshot to win outright, but also at this number to finish inside the top 20.
