Paul Skenes Prediction vs. Cardinals
Prediction: Paul Skenes Over 17.5 Outs and Pirates F5 Moneyline (-120)
After cashing a ticket on over 17.5 outs for Skenes in his previous start, I’m targeting a similar angle in Tuesday’s matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The odds of Skenes recording 18-plus outs have significantly increased, trading at -210 after being -152 last time. This shift is a result of his impressive performance, pitching seven innings against the Milwaukee Brewers before the Pirates pulled him from his no-hit bid.
Skenes has now recorded at least 18 outs in each of his previous six starts. He’s tallied 21 outs in three of his last four outings.
The Pirates also perform better when Skenes is on the mound. They have won eight of his 11 starts since making his debut in mid-May.
I project Pittsburgh to be nearly an entire run better than St. Louis in the first five innings, so I don’t mind playing this Same-Game Parlay at -130 or better.
