Cardinals Playoff Chances, Prediction for 2025

  • The Arizona Cardinals are +140 to make the postseason in 2025-26.
  • The Cardinals last reached the postseason in 2021, but doubled its wins last year.
  • I predict Arizonaโ€™s postseason hopes come down to improvement against good offenses.

Based on NFL odds and Cardinals playoff odds, the Arizona Cardinals are predicted to miss the postseason this year.ย

Arizona, which jumped from four to eight wins in Jonathan Gannonโ€™s second season, is currently +140 to make the playoffs for the first time since 2021.ย

Comparatively, oddsmakers list Arizona at -165ย to miss the postseason.ย

Prediction: Will the Arizona Cardinals Make the Playoffs?ย

Based on the construction of Arizonaโ€™s schedule, I predict the Cardinals are worth a bet to Make the Playoffs (+140).ย

For Arizona to reach the postseason, bettors are ultimately deciding whether it can reverse its fortunes against good offenses year over year.ย

The Cardinals started slowly in 2024 by losing four of its first six.ย

Defensively, Arizona ranked 31st in EPA per play and 32nd in success rate over that span on plays excluding turnovers, per rbsdm.com.ย

But that stretch coincided with the most difficult part of Arizonaโ€™s schedule. For the season, all six of those teams ranked ninth or better in offensive DVOA with an average rating of 15.27.ย

The schedule softened from there. In Week 7 onward, Arizona faced 11 teams with an average offensive DVOA rating of -0.47, including -2.84 from Week 7 to 16, per ftnfantasy.com.ย

If bettors go by 2024 offensive DVOA ratings, Arizonaโ€™s schedule begins very softly in 2025.ย

From Week 1 to 6, the Cardinals face six teams with an average rating of -7.18. Afterward, it increases to +4.35.ย

The worst of it comes from Week 13 onward. In the final six games, Arizona faces four games against top-10 offenses and five against top-14 offenses.ย

From a betting standpoint, it might be worth taking a piece of the โ€œyesโ€ before the season and looking for an arbitrage opportunity later in the season.ย

After all, if Arizonaโ€™s defense plays well in the first six games, it should allow a team that ranked 11th in offensive DVOA last season to carry the weight early.ย

The lone issue with taking a position on Arizonaโ€™s futures is that Kyler Murray has proven unreliable against bad teams in his career.ย

As a favorite against teams below .500, Murray is 11-9 SU since joining the league.ย

In slightly positive news, Murray posted a 3-1 record against such teams last season. Additionally, Arizona plays the leagueโ€™s 13th-easiest schedule in 2025 by win totals.ย

That said, for me to have confidence that Arizona actually reaches the postseason, the defense needs to improve in the latter half of the season.ย

Arizona is one of 12 NFL teams that have never won the Super Bowl.ย

Their lone appearance in the NFL championship game came all the way back in 2009, a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.ย
