Based on the return of Dak Prescott to the Cowboys offense and the distribution of Dallas’ difficult games, I predict the Cowboys Make the Playoffs (+200).
Dallas endured a brutal season in 2024. They went from the second seed in 2023 to out of the playoffs entirely in 2024.
But the team suffered loads of injuries that surely impacted that regression.
Most notably, Prescott missed nine games on a team that simultaneously saw the ninth-most injuries on defense.
In the offseason, Dallas made a number of transactions that improved the team. Retaining Osa Odighizuwa is critical for a defense that added Dante Fowler Jr. and Kenneth Murray.
Offensively, I love the fit of George Pickens in the offense. At running back, Javonte Williams arrives from Denver while Miles Sanders enters from Carolina.
While Zach Martin’s retirement looms large, I still consider the offensive line an above-average unit in the league.
Plus, Dallas’ schedule breaks down quite favorably in 2025.
Next season, the Cowboys play 10 games against playoff teams from 2024. Six of those games come at home.
Historically, Prescott owns a better record in Dallas. For his career, he posted a 43-18 record in Dallas compared to a 33-28 record away from home.
With Prescott back in the fold, I carry a lot of faith in the Cowboys offense, especially after adding Pickens.
Even if the Cowboys fail to win the NFC East, I expect they’ll claim a wild-card position with improved health. As a result, it’s worth doubling down on Dallas to make the playoffs.
