Chargers Over Under Wins, 2024 NFL Win Totals

  • The Chargersโ€™ 2024 preseason win total is set at 8.5 wins at BetMGM.
  • Los Angeles won only five games in 2023 and hired Jim Harbaugh in the offseason.
  • Why bettors should expect some positive regression for Los Angeles.

For the 2024 NFL season, the Chargers win total sits at 8.5 wins at the BetMGM online sportsbook.ย

Faced with a difficult schedule in 2023, Los Angeles earned only five wins. With Justin Herbert out for the final four games, the Chargers finished 0-4.ย

Entering 2024, loads of turnover occurred in Los Angeles. Both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams exited on offense with Los Angeles expected to focus more on the run in 2024.ย

Hereโ€™s a look at the NFL betting lines for Los Angelesโ€™ 2024 win total.ย

Chargers Win Total Odds

The Chargersโ€™ season win total is set at 8.5 games.ย

Oddsmakers expect Los Angeles to have a bounceback season. Currently, theyโ€™re -160 to win nine or more games, an implied probability of 61.5%.ย

Conversely, the price on Jim Harbaughโ€™s side to win eight or fewer games is +135, an implied probability of 42.6%.ย

Here are the 2024 NFL win totals for all AFC West teams:

Chargers Win Total Prediction 2024

Chargers Over 8.5 Wins (-150)

If Harbaugh can join and rapidly improve this defense โ€“ no better than 19th in EPA/play the last two years โ€“ thereโ€™s no reason Los Angeles canโ€™t win nine games.ย

Last year, the Chargers faced the sixth-hardest schedule after finishing second in the 2022 AFC West rankings.ย

This year, they get whatโ€™s projected to be the second-easiest schedule based on opponent win totals after finishing last in 2024.ย

Across the entire season, the Chargers play only four games against teams with a win total of 10 games or higher, three of which are at home.ย

Plus, Los Angelesโ€™ underlying results from 2023 rate them a positive regression candidate in 2024.ย

The Chargers played seven games last season that were decided by three or fewer points.ย

They lost every single one.ย

Sample 11 games decided by seven or fewer points and bettors will find they finished 3-8 SU in those contests.ย

In 2022, Los Angeles finished 7-5 in games decided within a touchdown and 5-3 in games decided by a field goal or less.ย

That should render it no surprise there was some regression in 2023. However, given their lackluster record in 2023, I wouldnโ€™t be surprised if bounces went LAโ€™s way this year.ย

Pair that with a strong running game โ€“ LA added both Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins as free agents โ€“ and I expect an improvement from Los Angeles in 2024.
