NFL Draft: Teams with Most First Overall Picks

Two franchises – the Indianapolis Colts and Los Angeles Rams – have owned the first overall pick the most times. 

Each franchise accounts for seven previous first overall picks. The Colts last owned the top pick in 2012, selecting QB Andrew Luck. 

As for the Rams, they last picked first in 2016, selecting QB Jared Goff. The Rams also owned the first overall pick in 2010, when they picked QB Sam Bradford. 

Beyond that duo, three other franchises have picked first overall five times: the Buccaneers, Browns and Cardinals. 

Tampa Bay last picked first overall in 2015 (Jameis Winston). 

Cleveland famously picked first in back-to-back years. In 2017, they picked Myles Garrett before selecting Baker Mayfield in 2018. 

Arizona last picked first in 2019, when they drafted Kyler Murray with the top pick. 

This year, the Tennessee Titans own the top pick at the NFL Draft. It’s the first time since 1978 that Tennessee picked first, and the first time they’ll select first as the Titans.
