If a team is +3 in NFL betting at BetMGM, theyโ€™re considered the underdog. Their opponent, the favorite, would be -3.

To cover the spread (+3), the underdog must lose by two or less points, win the game, or tie (after overtime). If they lose by exactly three points, itโ€™s a push.

To cover the spread (-3), the favorite must win by at least four points. If they win by exactly three points, it would be a push.

Overtime is included in the final score that determines if the team covers the spread.

Example of +3 Spread in NFL Betting

Los Angeles Rams (+3, -110) at Green Bay Packers (-3, -110)

The Rams are the road underdog (+3), and the Packers are the home favorite (-3).ย

If Los Angeles loses by two or less points, wins, or ties, they cover the spread. If they lose by three points, they push. If they lose by at least four points, they donโ€™t cover.

If Green Bay wins by at least four points, they cover the spread. If they win by three points, they push. And if they tie or lose, they donโ€™t cover.ย

Here are some score examples:

Rams 21, Packers 14: The Rams win by seven points and cover the spread.ย

Rams 23, Packers 23 (OT): The Rams tie and cover.

Packers 37, Rams 34: The Rams lose by three points and push.

Packers 22, Rams 12: The Rams lose by 10 points and donโ€™t cover.

Packers 31, Rams 27: The Packers win by four points and cover.

Packers 20, Rams 17: The Packers win by three points and push.

Packers 24, Rams 24 (OT): The Packers tie and donโ€™t cover.ย

Payout for +3 Spread in NFL Betting

Los Angeles Rams (+3, -110) at Green Bay Packers (-3, -110)

The odds accompanying the spread determine the payout. In this Rams-Packers example, the odds for each spread (-1 and +1) are -110. The odds can vary for games; they could be +100, -105, -110, -115 or another value.

To calculate the potential payout, add a spread bet to your BetMGM Bet Slip.ย

With -110 odds, a winning bet with a $25 stake would return $38.18 (including stake).

At -105 odds, a winning bet with a $25 stake would return $39.05 (including stake).

If a spread bet pushes, the stake is refunded.ย

Parlays and sportsbook Odds Boosts are among the ways to change odds and lock in a bigger potential payout.ย

To build a parlay, add multiple bets to your Bet Slip and add a stake to the Parlays section.
