Justin Verlander was the best MLB pitcher in 2022. In leading the Houston Astros to a second World Series title in six seasons, Verlander won his third Cy Young Award and second AL ERA crown.

Who is the best MLB pitcher in 2023?

MLB Pitcher Rankings for 2023

1. Blake Snell – Padres

Blake Snell has set the bar in the big leagues in the second half and remains the standard of excellence on the mound.

Snell has registered a 14-9 record, 2.33 ERA, and 227 strikeouts. The left-hander has dominated over the last four months of the regular season.

2. Justin Steele – Cubs

Justin Steele has made 28 starts for the Chicago Cubs in 2023, registering a 16-4 record, 2.73 ERA, and 164 strikeouts.

He’s coming off a tough outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but his resume proves he still deserves his placement.

3. Gerrit Cole – Yankees

The New York Yankees flamethrower brings a dynamic pitch mix as the club’s ace, and his numbers have backed that up.

Cole has stellar numbers this year, posting a 13-4 record over 31 starts with a 2.81 ERA and 208 strikeouts.

4. Sonny Gray – Twins

Sonny Gray has been a critical contributor to why the Minnesota Twins are closing in on the AL Central crown. Pitching has been a strength of this team, and Gray has continued to lead the charge.

The right-hander has posted an 8-7 record over 30 starts with a 2.84 ERA and 171 punchouts.

5. Kodai Senga – Mets

In the offseason, the New York Mets signed right-handed Japanese star Kodai Senga to a five-year deal worth $75 million. It took some time for him to get acclimated to the big leagues, but he’s settled in nicely and finds himself as one of the top starters in the game in 2023.

Senga has posted an 11-7 record over 27 starts with a 2.95 ERA and 191 strikeouts.

YRFI Odds at BetMGM

Betting on NRFI odds and YRFI odds is a great way to experience the first inning of a baseball game.

NRFI means “no runs in the first inning,” while YRFI means “yes runs in the first inning.” When you place an NRFI bet, you’re betting on both teams to combine for zero runs in the first inning of that game. Alternatively, when you place a YRFI bet you’re betting on both teams to combine for at least one run in the first inning.

Check updated NRFI/YRFI stats and records each day of the season.
