Brock Purdy Contract: Salary, Extension With 49ers

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy walks on the field after the NFC Championship NFL football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, in Philadelphia. The Eagles won 31-7. NFL teams will be allowed to play an emergency quarterback from the inactive list if the first two are injured during a game, a rule change approved by league owners on Monday, May 22, 2023, that stemmed from San Francisco's depth-chart challenge in the NFC championship game.

The 49ers nailed their seventh-round pick in 2022 when they selected Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy with the 262nd pick in the NFL Draft.ย

Purdy was a quarterback miracle in San Francisco โ€“ cheap and effective. Itโ€™s been a successful era for 49ers fans, as they won the NFC West in 2022 and 2023, reaching the conference championship game both years thanks to the incredible roster depth that Purdyโ€™s contract afforded.ย

So far, 2023 has been the zenith of the Purdy era. The NFL sophomore made a Pro Bowl, and his team played in the Super Bowl.ย

Alas, all good things must come to an end. With Purdy entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025, the San Francisco front office paid the man for his services in a big way. Purdy signed a five-year extension in May worth more than a quarter of a billion dollars.

If San Franciscoโ€™s recent success was born out of Purdyโ€™s dirt-floor pay, then NFL fans might expect a coming decline in the Bay Area.ย

But donโ€™t be too fast to pour dirt on the Ninersโ€™ grave โ€“ Purdyโ€™s cap number is only $9.1 million for 2025, since heโ€™s still technically playing on the final year of his rookie deal. It only jumps to $24 million next year.

Purdyโ€™s cap obligation doesnโ€™t spike north of 15% until 2028, meaning the 49ers still have a window to amass plenty of championship-caliber talent.ย

The Purdy era of maximum financial flexibility might be ending, but San Franciscoโ€™s window isnโ€™t closed. Donโ€™t punt on those 49ers odds just yet.ย

Brock Purdy Contract

Brock Purdy signed a five-year mega-extension worth $265 million in May. At the time of signing, it was the No. 5 richest contract in the league in terms of raw value.

Purdyโ€™s new contract extension includes a full no-trade clause and per-game active bonuses of $50,000 from 2026-29.ย

Brock Purdy Signing Bonusย

Brock Purdy Salary

Brock Purdy will earn $41.1 million from his NFL contract in 2025.

The vast majority of that is his recent $40 million signing bonus. The remainder is $1.1 million in base salary, which is the NFL veteran minimum for a player with three years of experience.ย

Brock Purdy Guaranteed Money

Brock Purdyโ€™s new extension included $100 million of guaranteed money at signing. Beyond his signing bonus, that figure also includes his compensation in 2025 and 2026, plus about $12 million from his 2027 salary.

In total, about $182 million will be guaranteed by April 2029.ย
