There hasn’t been much suspense regarding the National League West division for the last decade. The Los Angeles Dodgers have won 11 of the previous 12 division crowns since 2013, finishing runner-up to the San Francisco Giants in 2021.
As a result, the Dodgers are huge MLB betting favorites to win the division in 2025. Will things go according to plan?

NL West Betting Prediction 2025
Based on the updated MLB odds market, my NL West prediction is that the Dodgers will win the division and the Diamondbacks will finish as a runner-up (+225) during the 2025 season.
It’s clear that the betting market and projections don’t agree on how the NL West will shake out this season. The Padres are minus-odds favorites to finish in second behind the Dodgers in the division after doing so last year.
But that has created value on the Diamondbacks, who entered last season as the betting favorites to be the NL West runner-up.
Now, projections expect them to be even better after signing Corbin Burnes to be their ace and trading for first baseman Josh Naylor. PECOTA has the D-backs five games better than the Padres, while Clay Davenport’s projections forecast a 10-win gap.
I think there is a lot to like about Arizona’s upside this year, even if this team has no shot at surpassing Los Angeles at the top of the NL West.

Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers could be a potential juggernaut this season after improving the roster to defend their World Series title.

After pushing the Dodgers in last year’s NLCS, the Padres might be overrated by the betting market following a quiet offseason.
San Francisco Giants
