Texas Rangers 2025 Preview: MLB Odds & Prediction

After winning their first World Series in 2023, the Texas Rangers missed the playoffs during a 78-84 season as part of their encore.

The Rangers hope to bounce back in 2025, especially with the American League West division being more vulnerable than in recent years. Texas hasn’t won the division since 2016.

The Rangers’ MLB odds aren’t giving them as much respect as last year when they were coming off a surprise World Series victory.

Texas’ World Series odds dropped from +1400 to +2500, while its win total is three games lower than last year’s mark. It marks the third year in a row that the Rangers have had a preseason win total in the 80s, the first such stretch since 2005-07.

According to RosterResource, the Rangers added some pieces to help push them back into contention this season.

Texas signed designated hitter Joc Pederson and catcher Kyle Higashioka while trading for first baseman Jake Burger. The Rangers also revamped their bullpen by adding a handful of free agents, including Chris Martin.

Rangers Player to Watch in 2025

Outfielder Wyatt Langford is the Rangers’ player to watch entering his second season as someone who could raise this lineup’s potential.

Langford entered as the AL Rookie of the Year favorite last spring after rapidly rising through the minors. Langford finished with a .253 batting average, 16 home runs, and 74 RBIs in his debut season.

There is some untapped potential in Langford’s game, particularly the power. He had 47 blasts in college at the University of Florida and projects to hit more than 20 homers this season.

If Langford demonstrates any growth, that could help the Rangers get back in the mix this year.

Rangers 2025 Betting Prediction

Based on the updated MLB odds market, I predict the Rangers will win the AL West (+225) this season. This is the best bet to make in a wide-open division.

Although the Houston Astros enter as AL West favorites, PECOTA’s projections give the edge to the Rangers. They are projected to finish with 90.3 wins, besting Houston’s 87.7-74.3 record.

FanGraphs also forecasts that Texas has the best chance (33.9%) to win the AL West. Houston is third at 29%, trailing the Seattle Mariners’ projection of 30.4%.

Either way, the Rangers are worth their current preseason price tag. They should rebound in 2025 and win the division for the first time since 2016.
