  • Miami lost 100 games in 2024 for the first time since 2019.
  • I predict the Marlins will finish with the fewest wins in MLB.

The Miami Marlins have entered a rebuilding phase following their 62-100 campaign in 2024. In the offseason, they hired Clayton McCullough as their manager.

What will Year 1 of this rebuild look like?

Hereโ€™s a look at the latest MLB betting market and my prediction for the Marlins for 2025:

Marlins MLB Odds 2025

Win Total: 63.5
NL East: +20000
NL Pennant: +25000
World Series: +50000

The Marlinsโ€™ MLB odds project them to be among the worst teams in baseball in 2025. They are 500/1 to win the World Series after being 80/1 last preseason.

Miamiโ€™s win total has also dropped by 14 games, marking the teamโ€™s lowest win total since 2019.

For comparison, check out this breakdown of Miamiโ€™s preseason odds in recent years:

Marlins Depth Chart 2025

According to RosterResource, the Marlins will have a similar depth chart in 2025 after not making many moves this offseason.

They signed right-hander Cal Quantrill from the Colorado Rockies as their winter’s most significant addition.

Marlins Player to Watch in 2025

After missing the 2024 season, right-hander Sandy Alcรกntara will return to the mound on opening day against the Pittsburgh Pirates on March 27 at loanDepot Park.

The Marlins are getting their ace back, and Alcรกntara will give fans a reason to watch whenever he starts a game. Alcรกntara won the NL Cy Young award in 2022, posting a 2.28 ERA and 207 strikeouts in 228 2/3 innings.

Bettors must monitor how the lines adjust during Alcรกntaraโ€™s starts compared to other Miami games in 2025.

Marlins 2025 Betting Prediction

Based on the updated MLB odds market, I predict the Marlins will finish with the fewest wins in MLB during the 2025 season.

As of this writing, this market isnโ€™t available at the BetMGM online sportsbook. However, I cashed a +500 ticket on it last year when the Chicago White Sox finished with the fewest wins. I bet two teams last season, avoiding the clear favorite (Athletics).

I will follow a similar game plan this season, so the Colorado Rockies and Marlins are my picks to finish with the fewest wins. Both teams play in competitive divisions and could be staring down a 100-loss season.

The Marlins lost 100 games last year after a surprise playoff berth in 2023. Two of my three favorite MLB projection sites forecast another triple-digit defeat season for Miami:

  • Clay Davenport: 58-103
  • FanGraphs: 62-100
  • PECOTA: 62.3-99.7

Finishing with the fewest wins in baseball is absolutely on the table for the Marlinsโ€™ 2025 season.

Prediction: Marlins to Lead MLB in Losses
