Chicago White Sox Preview 2025: MLB Odds & Prediction

  • The White Sox went 41-121 during a record-setting season in 2024.
  • I predict Chicago will clear its win total in 2025.

No team lost more games in an MLB season than the Chicago White Sox did in 2024, finishing 41-121.

That means things can only go up from here, right?

Hereโ€™s a look at the latest MLB betting lines and my prediction for the White Sox for 2025:

White Sox MLB Odds 2025

Win Total: 53.5
AL Central: +25000
AL Pennant: +25000
World Series: +50000

The White Soxโ€™s MLB odds view them as the worst team in baseball after their historic campaign in 2024. Chicagoโ€™s win total has dropped by eight games, marking the teamโ€™s lowest preseason over/under since at least 1990.

For comparison, check out this breakdown of Chicagoโ€™s preseason odds in recent years:

White Sox Depth Chart 2025

According to RosterResource, the White Sox will continue to rely on their youth movement as part of their rebuilding under first-year manager Will Venables.

In the offseason, Chicago traded away Garrett Crochet, landing a significant prospect haul from the Boston Red Sox. Catcher Kyle Teel was the top prospect in the trade and could find his way on the big-league roster this season.

White Sox Player to Watch in 2025

Outfielder Luis Robert Jr. is the White Sox player to watch in 2025, especially if his name continues to be in trade conversations.

Robert, 27, could net the White Sox another solid haul of prospects. Heโ€™s on a favorable contract that keeps him on the team until 2028 and is two years removed from an All-Star campaign.

If Robert isnโ€™t dealt, he projects to be the best player on a White Sox team that lacks star power.

White Sox Betting Prediction for 2025

Based on the updated MLB odds market, I predict the White Sox will clear their win total (53.5) during the 2025 season.

I liked this win total a lot more when it opened at 51.5, but itโ€™s still playable at 53.5. The White Sox wonโ€™t be as bad as last year. Call it positive regression or the first step of the rebuild โ€“ it doesnโ€™t really matter.

There are more wins to be had in a weak AL Central alone after the White Sox finished with 10 victories against their division rivals last year.

PECOTA projects Chicago to finish with 62 wins in 2025. FanGraphs forecasts 62.2 victories.

This win total is a touch low.

Prediction: White Sox to finish over 53.5 wins (-110)
