New York Yankees 2025 Preview: MLB Odds & Prediction

The New York Yankees won their first pennant in 15 years before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. However, replicating that season will prove much more difficult.

After losing Juan Soto to the Mets, the Yankees did their best to replace his production. They signed first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and traded for outfielder Cody Bellinger to fill some offensive holes.

They also boosted their pitching staff by adding starter Max Fried and closer Devin Williams.

But was it enough to maintain their status as the favorite in the American League? Here’s a look at the latest MLB betting odds and my prediction for the Yankees ahead of the 2025 season:

Despite losing Soto, the market is higher on the Yankees’ MLB odds in 2025.

New York’s win total has increased by two games from last year’s mark. This team is +105 to win the AL East after having a +180 value in the previous preseason.

Yankees Depth Chart 2025

According to RosterResource, the Yankees will have new names on their depth chart this season.

Goldschmidt signed a one-year, $12.5 million deal entering his 15th MLB campaign. Fried was the marquee free agent signing for the Yankees, inking for eight years and $218 million – the largest deal ever for a lefty pitcher.

New York added Bellinger and Williams via the trade market.

Yankees Player to Watch in 2025

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was traded from the Miami Marlins to the Yankees last year.

In his 46 games in New York, Chisholm recorded an OPS+ of 130. For comparison, his best season in Miami was when he posted an 138 OPS+ during an All-Star campaign in 2022. He never finished higher than 107 in his other four years in Miami.

Chisholm will now take Soto’s spot in the lineup, hitting in front of Judge. According to OOPSY, he’s projected for the second-best WAR (3.5) on the team in 2025.

The Yankees’ season might depend on Chisholm becoming a star.

Yankees 2025 Betting Prediction

Based on the updated MLB betting market, I predict the Yankees to finish below their win total (93.5) during the 2025 season. This win total is playable down to 91.5.

The combo of Soto and Judge covered up a lot of holes for the Yankees last year. Judge finished with an 11.2 WAR, while Soto posted an 8.1. No other player finished with better than a 3.4 WAR, indicating how top-heavy this lineup was last summer.

With Soto gone and Judge projected for some obvious regression (9.6 WAR), it’s reasonable to expect a drop-off. Fortunately for bettors, the market is pricing this team similar (if not better) to last year’s squad.

The Yankees still deserve to be favorites in a weak American League, so I don’t have any interest in fading their futures odds at this moment. But I see value in taking the under on their win total, as the loss of Soto could affect their ability to withstand the regular-season grind.
