Arizona Diamondbacks 2025 Preview: MLB Odds & Prediction

The Arizona Diamondbacks missed the playoffs after an 89-73 campaign in 2024, despite being a better team than when they went 84-78 (and eventually reached the World Series) in 2023. 

That’s baseball.

But there is reason for optimism in Arizona this season after landing Corbin Burnes to be the team’s ace to complement an explosive offense.

Arizona’s win total has climbed one game, marking the team’s highest preseason win total since 2012. The Diamondbacks are also +3000 to win the World Series after being +4000 long shots last spring.

Diamondbacks Depth Chart 2025

According to RosterResource, the Diamondbacks improved their depth chart in essential ways this offseason.

They signed Burnes to a six-year, $210 million deal to be their ace for years to come. He went 15-9 with a 2.92 ERA in 32 starts for the Baltimore Orioles last season.

Arizona also traded for Josh Naylor as the team’s starting first baseman.

Diamondbacks Player to Watch in 2025

After an up-and-down campaign in 2024, Corbin Carroll could raise Arizona’s ceiling if he reaches his potential in 2025.

Carroll was a popular preseason MVP bet last year, but dealt with multiple injuries on his way to slashing .231/.322/.428 with 22 home runs and 35 stolen bases. He’s led the league in triples for the last two seasons.

Carroll is a +3000 long shot in the latest NL MVP odds, while also being +900 to lead the majors in stolen bases. There are ways to bet on Carroll having his best season yet, and the D-backs could certainly use it.

Diamondbacks 2025 Betting Prediction

Based on the updated MLB odds market, I predict the Diamondbacks will finish second in the NL West behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. The BetMGM online sportsbook offers +225 odds for that exact outcome in the division forecast market.

The San Diego Padres are favorites to finish second in the division, but they haven’t acted like a team that’s going for it this offseason. The Diamondbacks have been active this winter, and it’s worth remembering they were viewed as the second-place team in this division this time last year.

Most projection systems expect the Diamondbacks to finish comfortably in second place.

PECOTA projects them for 87 wins, with the Dodgers (103.8) in first and the Padres (82.5) in third. Clay Davenport also predicts Los Angeles will win the division with 104 victories, followed by Arizona (91) and San Francisco (82).

The Diamondbacks’ lineup ranked fourth in the majors last season with a wRC+ of 115. And now they have a dependable pitching staff with Burnes leading the way. It’s easy to be excited about the D-backs in 2025.
