The Baltimore Orioles are still looking for their first playoff win since 2014 following a second straight one-and-done appearance in the postseason.

Can Baltimore’s promising young roster take the next step?

Here’s a look at the updated MLB betting market and my prediction for the Orioles ahead of the 2025 season:

The market has similar expectations for the Orioles’ MLB odds, following last year’s 91-71 finish, which placed them second in the AL East.

Baltimore’s win total dropped one game compared to last season, while its AL East odds have gone from +180 to +240 since last spring. The Orioles’ World Series odds and pennant price tag have remained the same, suggesting bettors still believe in their potential.

Orioles Depth Chart 2025

According to RosterResource, the Orioles project to have a similar depth chart to last year’s team. 

The most significant exception is that Corbin Burnes is no longer the ace of Baltimore’s rotation after signing a six-year, $210 million contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. 

Outfielder Anthony Santander also left the team this offseason, inking a five-year, $92.5 million deal with Toronto Blue Jays.

Orioles Player to Watch in 2025

Jackson Holliday enters the 2025 MLB as the most intriguing player on Baltimore’s roster.

Holliday, the son of seven-time All-Star Matt Holliday, was considered the best prospect in baseball this time last year. Jackson Holliday then had an underwhelming rookie season after making his MLB debut on April 10, posting an OPS+ of 66.

It’s not a given that Holliday will become Baltimore’s everyday second baseman, but I’m not ready to give up a player with this kind of upside.

A breakout season from Holliday could provide a massive boost to an Orioles’ offense that faded down the stretch, scoring one total run in the AL wild card last October.

Orioles Betting Prediction for 2025

Based on the updated MLB betting market, I predict the Orioles will make the playoffs (-175) during the 2025 season.

The Orioles are officially underrated after two straight early exits in October. I project slight value on their win total and remain interested in backing them to win a competitive AL East division.

However, Baltimore’s playoffs odds are the best way to believe in this team. This -175 price tag gives the Orioles a 63.64% implied probability of reaching the postseason, though projections favor their chances more than that in a weak league.

PECOTA gives them a 70.7% chance of making the playoffs.

It’s fair to be frustrated with Baltimore’s front office for not maximizing this team’s chances, but this lineup remains incredibly deep and talented. Gunnar Henderson is coming off a third-place finish in the AL MVP race, while Colton Cowser and Jordan Westburg flashed their potential last season.

I’m also buying any stock you want to sell on Adley Rutschman and Holliday. And don’t forget that the left-field wall is moving closer to home plate. RIP the “not in Baltimore” posts.

Baltimore’s rotation still lacks frontline talent after losing Corbin Burnes, but there are reasons to believe a big year from Grayson Rodriguez could help fill the void.

Simply put, this is the perfect time to back the Orioles after consecutive postseason disappointments.
