  • Toronto went 74-88 last year, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
  • I predict the Blue Jays to exceed their win total (78.5) in 2025.

The Toronto Blue Jays havenโ€™t won a playoff game since 2016 after finishing fifth in the American League East division last year. They went 74-88 in 2024.

With Vladimir Guerrero Jr. set to hit free agency next winter, the pressure is on for the Blue Jays to make something happen this season.

Hereโ€™s a look at the updated MLB betting market and my prediction for the Blue Jays ahead of the 2025 season:

Blue Jays MLB Odds 2025

Win Total: 78.5
AL East: +1400
AL Pennant: +2500
World Series: +6000

The Blue Jaysโ€™ playoff odds are more of a long shot this season than the last few years. They have fallen from +2000 to +6000 to win the World Series, and their preseason win total dropped to 78.5 after being 87.5 last spring.

For comparison, check out this breakdown of Torontoโ€™s preseason odds in recent years:

Blue Jays Depth Chart 2025

According to RosterResource, the Blue Jays should have an improved depth chart in 2025.

Toronto signed left fielder Anthony Santander and traded for second baseman Andrรฉs Gimรฉnez. The Blue Jays also signed veteran starter Max Scherzer and multiple relievers to form a deep pitching staff.

Blue Jays Player to Watch in 2025

Torontoโ€™s rotation suddenly looks deep, but Iโ€™m especially interested to see if right-hander Bowden Francis remains a pitcher worth betting on in 2025.

Francis posted the lowest second-half WHIP (0.600) ever after the All-Star break last season. He only had one start where he gave up more than two runs during the final two months.

Francis finished with a 3.30 ERA in 13 starts, whiffing 92 batters in 103 2/3 innings.

Blue Jays 2025 Betting Prediction

Based on the updated MLB odds market, I predict the Blue Jays will finish over 78.5 wins (-110) during the 2025 season.

The market has overcorrected on the Blue Jays. Their win total has been 86.5 or higher in each of the past four seasons, but this is their lowest preseason mark since 2019.

Toronto is motivated to succeed in what could be its final year with Guerrero on the roster. After an active offseason that improved their team, I expect the Blue Jays to be aggressive at the trade deadline.

PECOTA, a projection system via Baseball Prospectus, has Toronto finishing with 84.7 wins. Iโ€™d be surprised if this win total doesnโ€™t climb before opening day.

Prediction: Blue Jays Over 78.5 Wins (-110)
