  • Cincinnati had another losing season (77-85) in 2024.
  • I predict the Reds will be a solid over team this year.

The Cincinnati Reds appear ready to turn the page following a 77-85 campaign in 2024.

The Reds brought manager Terry Francona out of retirement and made notable improvements to their roster in the offseason. But was it enough to contend in the NL Central?

Hereโ€™s a look at the latest MLB betting lines and my prediction for the Reds for 2025:

Reds MLB Odds 2025

Win Total: 78.5
NL Central: +475
NL Pennant: +3500
World Series: +8000

Despite the changes in the offseason, the Redsโ€™ MLB odds donโ€™t view this team as much of a contender in 2025.

Cincinnatiโ€™s win total has dropped four games from last yearโ€™s mark. Since 2013, the team has finished below its preseason over/under 10 times.

For comparison, check out this breakdown of Cincinnatiโ€™s preseason odds in recent years:

Reds Depth Chart 2025

According to RosterResource, the Reds enhanced their lineup and rotation in the offseason. They hope the combination of these upgrades and better health will lead to better results in 2025.

Cincinnati traded for Gavin Lux from the Los Angeles Dodgers and signed Austin Hays for some offensive depth. The Reds also traded for Brady Singer after he posted a 3.71 ERA with the Kansas City Royals last year.

Reds Player to Watch in 2025

Brady Singer is the player Iโ€™m curious to watch during his first few starts as he transitions to a new ballpark.

Singer spent five seasons with the Royals, pitching in a home ballpark (Kauffman Stadium) that suppresses home runs. Meanwhile, Cincinnatiโ€™s Great American Ball Park has the highest home run Park Factor in baseball.

Thatโ€™s important because Singer surrendered the ninth-highest home run to fly ball rate (13.6%) over the past two seasons. Heโ€™s especially vulnerable against left-handed hitters, allowing 1.49 home runs per nine innings to lefties last year.

As someone who bets home run props daily, Iโ€™ll be interested in the prices of left-handed hitters against Singer at home this season.

Reds 2025 Betting Prediction

Based on the updated MLB odds market, the Reds will be a good over team for daily totals during the 2025 season.

As of this writing, I donโ€™t see value in any of Cincinnati’s futures markets, but Iโ€™m optimistic that this team will be more fun this year.

PECOTA projects the Reds to score 734 runs this year, trailing only the Chicago Cubs (753) for the most runs scored in the division. Elly De La Cruz leads a lineup with plenty of potential, especially in a favorable ballpark.

The problem is that Cincinnati is projected to allow the most runs (799) in the division. Itโ€™s difficult to count on health in the rotation after last year, and the bullpen projects to be the fourth-worst in baseball (RosterResource).

I will target overs for the Redsโ€™ games this year and look to back their opponent in the live market.

Prediction: Target overs for Cincinnati games in 2025
